The Full Council meeting of Melksham Town Council scheduled for Monday 21 September is postponed to Monday 28 September


Councillor Hayley Spencer held a session at Forest and Sandridge School explaining Melksham Town Council activities, following which children were invited to write to the Council.  10 letters were written (copies here) by groups of children with the following requests:

Recreational

  • Quad bike area
  • Tree house in the park (x2)  - one for girls, one for boys
  • Arts and crafts club for children
  • Indoor skate park and lessons
  • Extend skate park (x2)
  • Repaint skate park
  • Pizzeria with animatronics
  • More children’s after school clubs
  • More movies at Melksham Assembly Hall
  • More green space to play in
  • Separate pool for babies. Also at the park
  • Outside sheltered play area
  • Adventure playground like Chippenham
  • Splash pad in the park because the pool gets muddy
  • When is Melksham’s birthday? Hold a celebration on it.

 

Environmental

  • Flowers by the entrance to the Blue Pool
  • Water fountain in the town
  • Bins by skate park
  • More flowers at entrances to buildings
  • More trees or nature areas
  • Clean alleyways
  • Improve roads – pot holes
  • Nature area for wildlife
  • Clean river of litter
  • Stop people ripping the flowers
  • Clean inside bus shelters – cobwebs

 

The letters were forwarded to the Local Youth Network and the Bloom in Melksham Group where appropriate. Copies of the replies to the children are here.
