Below is the latest update issued from Giffords Surgery regarding the roll-out of the Covid 19 vaccination programme.
The local GPs in Melksham and Bradford on Avon are incredibly pleased with the successful roll out of the COVID vaccination programme. A huge effort has been made to ensure a rapid response in delivering the vaccine to our patients, which until now has been dependant on deliveries. Together we have been able to vaccinate a significant number of the over 80s as well as care home staff and residents which is now nearly complete. These are the first priority groups.
We are delighted to have made such excellent progress and are confident that we will have been in touch with everyone to extend an invitation to be vaccinated very soon. I understand that people are anxious and keen to be vaccinated but please if you are in the priority groups we ask for patience. Our patients will be contacted by the NHS.
We are now expanding the programme to reach even more local people and I encourage everyone to take up the offer of a vaccination. It is through a successful vaccination programme that we will begin to get life back to normal. However, people should continue to adhere to all social distancing rules and stay home apart from essential activity.
We are contacting those in the 75-79 age group with underlying health conditions and will be rolling out to the over 80s housebound next week
The team from all the practices have worked incredibly hard to deliver this programme. This is a marathon not a sprint but we have made a great start to what is a huge and complicated project. Please be patient and the NHS will get to everyone when it is their turn to be vaccinated.
