Rules of the Forum
This
Forum is an open place for the exchange of ideas and the discussion
of particular issues. You are agreeing, through your use of
the Forum, that you will not use the Forum to post any material
which is knowingly inaccurate, false and/or defamatory, abusive,
vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, threatening
or invades any person's privacy. We would also recommend that
you keep your messages short and to the point.
All
messages are read by a moderator and Melksham Town Council
reserves the right to remove any messages that are knowingly
inaccurate, false and/or defamatory, abusive, vulgar, hateful,
harassing, obscene, profane, threatening or invade any person's
privacy and to ban the author from placing further messages
on the Forum. Melksham Town Council also reserves the right
to reveal, to the police or any other relevant authority,
the identity of anyone posting messages in the event of a
complaint or legal action arising from any message posted.
Please
remember that although Melksham Town Council read the contents
of the messages, we are not responsible for any of the messages
posted except for those posted by Melksham Town Council. Melksham
Town Council cannot, therefore, guarantee the accuracy, completeness
or usefulness of any of the messages.
The
messages posted express the views of the author of the message
and Melksham Town Council expects the people posting messages
to give their full, bona fide names.
Any
user who feels that a posted message is objectionable can
contact the moderator immediately by email to moderator@melkshamtown.co.uk
or by phone 01225 704187. Every effort will be made
to remove objectionable messages within a reasonable time
frame if it is determined that removal is necessary.

How
to use the Forum
Before
you can place a message on the Forum you are required to
register your name email address and a password.
To
Register (First Time Users only)
Go
to the Forum page by clicking on the link below. Click on
the
icon. The registration page will open in a new window. Enter
your full name, a password (6 to eight characters) and your
email address in the boxes provided. Please also add what
your interest in Melksham is i.e. resident, professional etc.
in the "Info" box. You can preview your entry by
clicking on "Preview" and edit as necessary. When
you are happy click "Submit".
How
to Add a Topic
To
add a Topic to the Forum click on "Add Topic" in
the top right or bottom left of the Forum box. A "New
Topic" page will open in a new window. Enter your topic
in the "Subject" box. Enter your name as you entered
it when you registered in the "Name" box (you can
add one of the people icons if you wish by clicking on the
one you require). Add a brief description of the topic in
the main box (you can add one of the face icons if you wish
by clicking on the one you require). Now click on the
icon and enter your password in the dialogue box that appears.
You can preview your entry by clicking on "Preview"
and edit as necessary. When you are happy click "Submit".
Your topic will appear in the main screen along with the time
and the date it was posted. To view details of the author
of a topic click on their name in the "Author" column.
How
to Add a Post (reply) to a Topic
To add a Post (Reply) to a Topic to the Forum click on the
Topic title that you wish to reply to. Click on "Add
Post" in the top right or bottom left of the Forum box.
An "Add Post" page will open in a new window. Enter
the subject of your reply in the "Subject" box.
Enter your name as you entered it when you registered in the
"Name" box (you can add one of the people icons
if you wish by clicking on the one you require). Add reply
or comment on the Topic in the main box (you can add one of
the face icons if you wish by clicking on the one you require).
Now click on the
icon and enter your password in the dialogue box that appears.
You can preview your entry by clicking on "Preview"
and edit as necessary. When you are happy click "Submit".
Your post will appear in the topic screen along with the time
and the date it was posted. To return to the main "Topic"
page click on "melkshamtown.co.uk - Forum" in the
top left hand corner.In the right hand column of the "Topic"
page you will see that the number of "Posts" for
the topic you replied to has increased.
If
you Forget your Password
If
you forget your password click on the
icon and then click on the
icon. Add your email address as you entered it when you registered
and then click submit. Your password will be emailed to you.
