Melksham Neighbourhood Plan:  A joint Neighbourhood Plan is being formulated as a result of the new Localism Act 2011, which seeks to encourage communities to become proactively involved in decisions about planning matters at a local level.  This process provides a unique opportunity to shape future development within the locality and Melksham Town Council and Melksham Without Parish Council have committed to work together to create a plan for the Melksham area.

The Plan will be generated through a process of consultation and engagement with local residents who will then be asked to vote on it and, if it is approved, it will be adopted as part of the development plan for Wiltshire.

As an initial part of this process, an application must be made to desigate the Melksham Neighbourhood Area which encompasses the combined area of the two parish councils.

Wiltshire Council have commenced a consultation exercise in respect of this application and would welcome comments on the proposal.  The closing date for comments is Tuesday 18 March 2014.

A map showing the proposed Melksham Neighbourhood Area, together with guidance as to how to view and comment on the proposal, can be found here
